Blind Spot Detection (BSD) in Truckee
Blind spot detection is a separate part of the ADAS picture from the camera behind your windshield. Learn what information helps our Truckee shop review a blind-spot warning or a repair involving the rear of your vehicle.
What does blind spot detection do?
Blind spot detection, also called blind spot monitoring or warning, alerts the driver to a detected vehicle in an adjacent blind spot. An alert is different from blind spot intervention, which may also provide steering or braking assistance.
Rear and corner sensors need their own review
Many vehicles locate blind-spot radar behind body panels near the rear corners. The exact position and repair requirements vary. A bumper repair, sensor replacement or work around a sensor’s mounting location should be checked against the manufacturer’s instructions.
Does a new windshield require blind-spot calibration?
Windshield-camera calibration and rear-radar calibration involve different components. Do not assume one automatically includes the other. Tell us the full repair history, especially if glass replacement is part of a larger collision repair, so the service scope can be reviewed.
What to include with your inquiry
Describe whether the warning affects one side or both, when it began and whether rear-body work was recently completed. Share the year, make, model and VIN, plus any repair or diagnostic paperwork. Sierra Mobile Auto Glass & Calibration can discuss rear and corner radar calibration on supported vehicles through our Truckee shop.
